Hyperscalers and e-commerce companies are turning to storage based on NVMe flash to meet their increasing performance needs as NVMe offers an order of magnitude higher performance than SCSI flash.
The usual implementation of NVMe has been to use local storage—i.e. drives within servers; but this has many limitations including cost, management complexity, and resilience. Furthermore, many use cases such as high-speed analytics and ML/AI require data sets or performance that cannot be accommodated by single servers.
In this paper, we show how using EXTEN Technologies NVMe over Fabric (NVMe-oF) storage solutions can enable Hyperscalers to cost-effectively meet their high-performance storage needs with both advanced resilience and easy manageability.
